Upload Your M-Pesa Statement
How to get your M-Pesa PDF from Safaricom and import it into Jijenga.
TL;DR
Safaricom emails you a PDF of your M-Pesa transaction history on request. Jijenga reads that PDF and classifies every transaction automatically. The whole process takes under 60 seconds.
Part 1: Get your M-Pesa statement from Safaricom
Safaricom sends your M-Pesa statement as a PDF to your registered email address. You can request it two ways:
Via the MySafaricom app (recommended):
Open the MySafaricom app
Tap M-Pesa in the bottom navigation, then tap Statement.
Select your date range
Choose up to 6 months of history. For your first import, the last 3 months is a good starting point.
Request the statement
Tap to send. Safaricom emails the PDF to your registered email address within a few minutes.
Via USSD:
Dial *334#
Select My Account from the menu.
Select M-Pesa Statement
Choose your date range and confirm. Safaricom emails the PDF to your registered email address.

Some M-Pesa PDFs are password-protected. When Safaricom sends the PDF, they also send you a PIN via SMS on your registered number — have that SMS open before uploading.
Part 2: Upload to Jijenga
Open the import screen
Tap MORE in the bottom navigation bar, then tap Import.
Select your PDF
Tap BROWSE or drag the PDF onto the upload zone. Jijenga accepts PDF files up to 20MB.
Enter your PIN if the PDF is encrypted
If your PDF is password-protected, tap NEED PIN? to expand the PIN input. Enter the PIN Safaricom sent you via SMS.
Tap 'BEGIN SCAN'
Jijenga uploads the file, extracts every transaction, and classifies them automatically. You'll see a progress indicator while it runs.
Review the results
When processing finishes, you'll see a summary of how many transactions were imported and how they were categorised. Tap any transaction to correct its category if it looks wrong.
Tips
- Upload multiple statements to build a longer history — 3–6 months gives you the clearest spending patterns
- Jijenga deduplicates across imports — no double-counting if date ranges overlap
- You can re-upload the same statement safely at any time
