Understanding Your Dashboard

What the Jijenga dashboard shows and how to navigate the app.

TL;DR

Your dashboard — the Cockpit — updates automatically every time you import a new statement. Everything shown is calculated from your real M-Pesa data.

The navigation

Jijenga has four tabs in the bottom navigation bar:

TabWhat it shows
HOMEThe Cockpit — your financial overview
LEDGEREvery transaction, searchable and filterable
CATEGORYYour spending broken down by category
MOREImport, intelligence tools, settings, and profile

The intelligence tools (Operating Stmt, Velocity Lab, The Explorer, Fuliza Shield, Reports) are all under MORE → INTELLIGENCE.

What the Cockpit shows

After your first import, the dashboard fills with cards calculated from your data:

Vital Signs — your net cash flow, total income, total expenses, savings rate, and how this month compares to last month.

Financial Health — a score from 0 to 100 built from five components: savings health, spending discipline, debt management, financial organisation, and stability. It tells you where you stand overall.

Velocity Meter — how fast you're spending money right now versus your safe spending rate. Useful for the second half of the month.

Guardian — behavioural insights: your heaviest spending day, your biggest recurring micro-expense, and Fuliza (Safaricom's overdraft service) alerts if you have active Fuliza usage.

Empty dashboard

If you haven't imported a statement yet, the dashboard shows an empty state with two options: upload your M-Pesa PDF or add transactions manually. Until you add data, no cards appear.

Switching periods

A period selector at the top of the dashboard lets you switch between: This month, Last month, Last 3 months, Last 6 months, and a custom date range. All cards update immediately when you switch.
