Ledger
Your complete transaction history — searchable, filterable, and exportable.
TL;DR
The Ledger is every transaction Jijenga has — from every M-Pesa import and every manual entry. Every number in every intelligence product traces back to a row in the Ledger.
What it is
The Ledger is the raw data view of all your transactions. Where intelligence products like the Operating Statement summarise and analyse, the Ledger gives you the full list — searchable, filterable, and exportable. If a number in any intelligence product surprises you, the Ledger is where you verify it.
Access it via the LEDGER tab in the bottom navigation bar.
How to use it
Filter by transaction type
Four type filters run across the top of the screen: EXPENSE, INCOME, INVESTMENT, TRANSFER. Tap one to show only that type, or tap again to clear.
Search transactions
Tap the search bar to find transactions by counterparty name, description, or amount. Search updates results as you type.
Apply advanced filters
Tap the filter icon to open the filter sheet. You can filter by:
- Date range (from / to)
- Amount range (minimum / maximum)
- Entity (specific counterparty or merchant)
Tap a transaction for details
Tap any transaction row to open the full detail view — date, amount, counterparty, type, category, and transaction ID. From the detail view you can also correct the category.
Export to CSV
Use the export button to download the current filtered view as a CSV. Useful for tax purposes, reimbursement claims, or analysis in a spreadsheet.
What to look for
- Gaps in dates — if a period shows no transactions, you may be missing a statement for that month; re-import a broader date range
- Counterparty inconsistencies — the same merchant can appear with slightly different names across transactions; if it's being split into two categories, a manual correction in the Ledger fixes it
- Large individual transactions — sometimes one transaction dominates a category total; verify it's real before acting on the intelligence product number
Tips
- After importing a new statement, scan the Ledger filtered to the imported date range before clearing categories — it's the fastest way to spot parsing issues
- Use the EXPENSE filter + a merchant search to see your full spend history with a specific vendor
- The CSV export respects your active filters — set them before exporting to get exactly the data you need
